FOUNTAIN HILLS, Ariz.—-PetGadgets.com has teamed up with LoveMyPets GPS to provide the grand prize in NJ.com’s New Jersey Top Dog contest. But this isn’t just a simple beauty contest for well-groomed and manicured pets. The dog crowned “Best In Show” must exude Jersey in the funniest, shaggiest, coolest way.
NJ.com, the online home for 12 New Jersey newspapers, wants to see videos of dogs dressed up, dressed down, in action, or just doing what they do best – being themselves. The top three winners receive high tech prizes from retail site PetGadgets.com for their show-stopping canines, including a glow-in-the-dark safety collar with GPS capability, manufactured by LoveMyPets GPS as top prize.
PetGadgets.com owner Geoff Mott said, “I’m pleased to be affiliated with this contest from NJ.com. The top prize will keep dogs safe and comfortable as well as give their owner true peace of mind.”
The collar is so effective the Sheriff’s Department of Brevard County, FL recently outfitted all their working canines with them. Sgt. Michael Green said, “Our dogs are highly trained, highly valued members of our team and we need to know their whereabouts at every minute.”
Each collar features a bright red border plus two reflective strips on either side of the glow-in-the-dark middle. For the Sheriff’s Department the collar was customized without the glow/reflective pigments so that criminals would not see the dogs at night. The small yet powerful GPS unit fits securely on the back of the collar without discomfort. Online tracking updates the dog’s location every 60 seconds.
To win this truly unique collar and other prizes, pet owners living in New Jersey can register at NJ.com to upload videos of their dogs showing off their stuff. Submissions are being accepted until June 11, 2010. Five finalists will be named and NJ.com users can then vote for their favorite pooch.
First prize is a LoveMyPets GPS unit with one year of service on the Sprint Wireless Network and LoveMyPets glow-in-the-dark leash. Second prize is a Petmate automatic feeder, and third prize is a Puplight.
